Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire (N64)

Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire is one of those games from my childhood that never really got old. I remember fondly replaying the first level a lot zipping around in a snow speeder fighting off the Imperial army’s assault. I also remember falling off the trains constantly.

The game has some amazing levels and environments considering it is a very limited N64 title that does not use the expansion pack. Taking control of the guns to fight off tie fighters is also a great time. The final battle is awesome and reignites the battles against the death star from A new hope and Return of the Jedi.

The platforming sections can be a little frustrating with little margins for error. The Boba Fett fight is really annoying as he moves way faster than I could even attempt and once you use up the special weapons, they are gone.
The stages on foot in general have a rough feeling to the controls.

Overall this game makes up for any faults by telling a fresh story in the Star Wars original Trilogy timeline without going so far as Jar-Jar Binksing it up. If you like Star Wars give this game a try, It is definitely worth at least a playthrough.
